In crime drama series An Unsuitable Job For A Woman Cordelia Gray inherits a private detective agency and tackles various cases. The stories appeared only sporadically and usually as mini serials.

There was a long gap from 1999 to May 2001 before a new episode Playing God appeared. Helen Baxendale became pregnant just as the series hit the air leading to an initial delay in new episodes but Playing God was actually filmed in 1999 too.
