The popular Australian reality-competition series Hunted is set to return to screens after the Olympics, with an enticing million-dollar twist.
The show will introduce a group of nine pairs of everyday Australians who will transform into cunning fugitives, each pair setting their sights on a substantial cash prize of one million dollars, housed within the Savings Bank of Ballarat.
Participants will transform into fugitives, each pair aiming to break into the Savings Bank of Ballarat and extract one million dollars. In a modern-day heist, they must then disappear and reach an extraction point within 20 days.
However, standing in their way are the Hunters—a team of experts including former AFP, ADF, and British Intelligence officers, as well as specialists in special operations and cybersecurity. These seasoned pursuers will employ tactical brilliance and an array of tools to capture the fugitives.
The million-dollar twist draws inspiration from the UK Sky TV series, The Heist, produced by Shine, the production company behind Hunted. If the fugitives can successfully evade capture for the duration of the challenge, they get to keep the money.
Produced by Endemol Shine Australia, an official premiere date is yet to be announced but it is expected to be after the Paris Olympics.
