On Sunday, June 23, 2024, CBS will broadcast the second of two encore episodes of “60 Minutes,” offering insightful investigations into global issues.
The first segment, titled “Crisis in the Red Sea,” sees Norah O’Donnell reporting from various locations in the Middle East as tensions escalate in the region. O’Donnell gains access to the 5th Fleet’s command center at naval headquarters in Bahrain and speaks with Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, deputy commander of U.S. forces in the region.
The segment explores a new form of warfare involving anti-ship ballistic missiles and the disruption of international shipping lanes by the Iran-aligned Houthi militia. O’Donnell’s reporting sheds light on the escalating situation and discusses the possibility of an endgame.
In the double-length second segment, “The Looting of Cambodia,” Anderson Cooper presents the findings of a year-long investigation into what may be history’s greatest art heist. The focus falls on British dealer Douglas Latchford, who orchestrated the theft of thousands of sacred artifacts made of stone, bronze, and gold from religious sites across Cambodia during a period of genocide, civil war, and political turmoil.
These priceless artifacts found their way into the collections of wealthy individuals and prestigious museums worldwide. Now, the Cambodian government is on a mission to reclaim its cultural heritage and bring these stolen treasures back home.
“60 Minutes: Crisis in the Red Sea, The Looting of Cambodia” airs on CBS on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT.
