ABC and Screen Australia have announced new comedy series, “Optics,” which has begun filming in Sydney. Created by Jenna Owen, Vic Zerbst, and Charles Firth, “Optics” is a workplace comedy that lifts the lid on office politics and corporate spin.

The series follows two sharp 20-somethings, played by Owen and Zerbst, who unexpectedly find themselves running the crisis management PR firm Fritz & Randell after the death of its patriarch. As they navigate weekly PR crises involving celebrities, sports stars, and corporate titans, they also uncover potential scandals within their own firm.

ABC Head of Scripted, Rachel Okine, praised the talented team behind “Optics,” stating, “We’re thrilled to be working with such an incredibly talented team to bring this fast-paced and funny comedy to ABC.”

Owen, Zerbst, and Firth shared their initial concerns about the show’s premise, joking, “When we started, we were worried that there weren’t enough PR crises in Australia to sustain 30 minutes of television each week. As it turns out, there’s enough material for about 30 years of television each week.”
