ABC News has announced its special coverage plans for the 2024 Democratic National Convention, taking place from Monday, August 19, to Thursday, August 22. The network will provide in-depth reporting and analysis across platforms, including ABC, ABC News Live, and Hulu.
Television and Streaming Coverage
David Muir, anchor and managing editor of “World News Tonight,” will lead primetime coverage on ABC, airing from 10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT on Monday and Tuesday, and from 9:00-11:00 p.m. EDT on Wednesday and Thursday. ABC News Live, the network’s 24/7 streaming news channel, will offer extended primetime coverage from 7:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m. EDT, with Linsey Davis anchoring a special edition of “ABC News Live Prime” from 7:00-9:00 p.m. EDT. Hulu will present all of ABC News’ coverage, providing an additional streaming option.
Reporting and Analysis
ABC News’ political team will be on the ground in Chicago, offering comprehensive insights. This includes chief White House correspondent Mary Bruce, chief global affairs correspondent and “This Week” co-anchor Martha Raddatz, chief Washington correspondent and “This Week” co-anchor Jonathan Karl, chief justice correspondent Pierre Thomas, and chief national correspondent Matt Gutman, among others. Contributors Donna Brazile, Asma Khalid, and Reince Priebus will provide additional analysis for network and streaming coverage.
Digital and Audio Coverage
ABC News Digital will deliver extensive digital coverage, with live updates, analysis, key player interviews, and convention highlights. They will also feature stories on local businesses and Chicago’s convention history. ABC News Radio will present live anchored coverage with correspondent Alex Stone and contributions from White House correspondent Karen Travers, along with a team of experts and analysts. “Start Here,” ABC Audio’s flagship daily news podcast, will devote daily reports to the conventions with host Brad Mielke in Chicago.
Additional Programming
“World News Tonight with David Muir” and “ABC News Live’s Prime with Linsey Davis” will broadcast from Chicago throughout the convention. “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” co-anchored by Martha Raddatz, will also originate from Chicago on Sunday, August 18, featuring new ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos polling data. “Good Morning America,” “GMA3: What You Need to Know,” “Nightline,” and other ABC News programs will bring the latest convention news throughout the week.
