The 2024 season of American Idol has concluded, with 21-year-old Abi Carter taking home the title of winner for Season 22. Hailing from Indio, California, Carter impressed judges and viewers throughout the competition with her powerful vocals and strong performances.
From her very first audition, where she performed Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” and earned a Platinum Ticket, Carter stood out. She consistently delivered memorable performances, including renditions of Adele’s “Hello” and Fall Out Boy’s “Light ‘Em Up,” the latter of which prompted judge Lionel Richie to praise her improvement.
Carter’s journey to the finale saw her performing “Welcome to the Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance, “Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road” by Elton John, and “All Too Well” by Taylor Swift, among other popular choices.
The three-hour finale featured an array of guest performers, including music icons Jon Bon Jovi and Fantasia Barrino, the winner of American Idol’s 2004 season. The episode also marked judge Katy Perry’s final appearance on the show.
