UKTV’s crime drama channel Alibi has confirmed additional guest stars for its upcoming drama series Bookish, created by Emmy Award-winning writer Mark Gatiss. The series, set in London in 1946, features Gatiss as the unconventional detective Gabriel Book, who uses his vast knowledge of books to help the police solve mysterious crimes.
Joining the cast for episodes 5 and 6 are Paul McGann as Mr. Kind, Tim McInnerny as ‘D’, Elizabeth Berrington as Sylvia Orr, Mark Umbers as Victor Orr, and Angeliki Papoulia as Princess Ruhije.
The series consists of three main cases, with each storyline spanning two episodes. Polly Walker stars as Book’s wife, Trottie, in a ‘lavender’ marriage, concealing Book’s sexual orientation in a time when it was illegal to be gay.
Bookish will also feature guest stars Joely Richardson, Daniel Mays, and Jonas Nay, alongside a talented core cast, including Connor Finch, Elliot Levey, and Buket Kömür.
The series is produced in association with Happy Duck Films and supported by the Belgian Tax Shelter.
Bookish will air on Alibi in 2025.
