Alma’s Not Normal: Season 2 Premiere (BBC Two, Monday 7 October 2024)

Alma's Not Normal Returns for Series 2 on BBC This Autumn

Sophie Willan’s award-winning comedy returns for a second and final season, and in this first episode Alma is determined to shake things up as she returns to her hometown.

She hires a talent agent, purchases a new set of wheels, and even lands an acting role. However, her plans don’t go as expected, leading to a series of demoralising experiences.

Meanwhile, Lin explores witchcraft during her hospital stay, Jim stays at Joan’s place as her pet, and Leanne’s truck-turned-bar becomes the talk of the town. Just as Alma adjusts to being back in Bolton, Joan drops a bombshell that changes everything.

Alma, a Boltonian wild child, finds herself at a crossroads in life. With a recent break-up still stinging, she yearns for a fresh start. But without a job or qualifications, and a rebellious streak that’s hard to tame, Alma’s path to stability is filled with challenges. To make matters worse, her mother, struggling with heroin addiction, has been hospitalised for arson, leaving Grandma Joan to deal with the chaos.

Despite the setbacks and surprises, Alma remains resilient, embracing life’s twists and turns with a unique blend of humor and heart.
