Apple TV+ has confirmed the return of its globally acclaimed comedic drama series ‘Bad Sisters’ for a second season, set to premiere on 13 November 2024. The first two episodes will be released on this date, followed by weekly episodes every Wednesday through 25 December.
Created by Emmy Award nominee and BAFTA Award-winning talent Sharon Horgan, who also stars in the series, ‘Bad Sisters’ centres on the lives of the Garvey sisters: Eva (Horgan), Grace (Anne-Marie Duff), Ursula (Eva Birthistle), Bibi (Sarah Greene), and Becka (Eve Hewson). The new season picks up two years after the mysterious “accidental death” of Grace’s abusive husband, as the close-knit sisters navigate past truths resurfacing, suspicions mounting, and secrets being unveiled.
The eight-episode season offers a blend of dark comedy and thriller elements, with new cast members joining the returning ensemble. Fiona Shaw, Owen McDonnell, Thaddea Graham, Barry Ward, and Peter Claffey are among the fresh faces, along with returning cast members Michael Smiley, Saise Quinn, Daryl McCormack, and Yasmine Akram.
The first season of ‘Bad Sisters’ received critical acclaim and achieved notable awards recognition, including BAFTA Television Awards for Best Drama Series and Best Supporting Actress for Anne-Marie Duff. The series has also won a Peabody Award and received multiple Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series and nods for Outstanding Casting, Writing, and Directing.
The series is executive produced by the creator, Faye Dorn, and Clelia Mountford for Merman, with Dearbhlarn Walsh also serving as executive producer and director.
Additional executive producers include Bert Hamelnick, Michael Sagol, Dave Finkel, and Brett Baer, who adapted the series with the creator based on the Belgian show ‘Clan’, created by Malin-Sarah Gozin, who is also an executive producer. ‘Bad Sisters’ is a Merman Television & ABC Signature series for Apple TV+.
