The Real Housewives of New York City is shaking things up for Season 15 with the addition of art curator Racquel Chevremont to its cast. Born in Brooklyn and raised in the Bronx, Chevremont brings a unique perspective to the franchise with her passion for art and commitment to representation.
With over 20 years of experience, Chevremont has curated artists like Dawoud Bey and Julie Mehretu, placing their works in award-nominated films and TV series, including “Severance” and “And Just Like That…” Her impact extends beyond the art world, as she’s also graced ad campaigns for L’Oréal and Nivea and graced International Elle magazine covers.
Chevremont’s identity as a Black queer woman is a cornerstone of her advocacy. Dedicated to amplifying queer voices, especially those from the diaspora, she co-founded The Josie Club. This social impact group is unique in that it is supported and operated by Black Queer Femmes and Women, fostering a community that actively collaborates on impactful events.
Chevremont has expressed her hopes for the season, saying she wants to “show people a loving, fun family along with [her] chosen family”. She also wants to challenge the idea that queer women cannot be “successful, beautiful and in loving relationships raising children.” Chevremont hopes that by appearing on the show, she can “change a couple of hearts and minds” and increase the visibility of queer people and their families.
She joins a diverse group of returning housewives, including Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, and Jenna Lyons, adding a fresh dynamic to the mix.
