Netflix’s upcoming limited series, Senna, chronicles the life and career of the iconic Formula 1 driver, Ayrton Senna.
The newly released trailer is a glimpse into Senna’s rise from karting enthusiast to three-time world champion, touching on both his on-track battles and personal life. While the series seems to hit the expected biographical beats – early promise, international competition, intense rivalries – the inclusion of never-before-seen footage suggests it might offer something beyond a standard sports biopic.
Gabriel Leone takes the wheel as Senna, supported by a large ensemble cast portraying figures like his sister Vivianne (Camila Márdila), rival Alain Prost (Matt Mella), and even TV personality Xuxa (Pâmela Tomé).
The series also features a fictional journalist character, Laura (Kaya Scodelario), potentially adding a framing device or outside perspective to Senna’s story.
With Vicente Amorim at the helm as showrunner and director, the project has the potential to either be a poignant exploration of a complex figure or a hagiographic victory lap. We’ll find out when Senna premieres globally on Netflix November 29th.
Senna is a Gullane production for Netflix. Executive producers are Fabiano Gullane and Caio Gullane.
