Prime Video has scrapped plans for a Bosch spinoff centered on Jamie Hector’s character, Jerry Edgar. The project, which was announced in February 2023, would have followed Edgar’s undercover FBI mission in Miami’s Little Haiti neighborhood. The proposed series aimed to explore Edgar’s challenges in balancing his new life against the city’s undercurrent of crime while grappling with his enigmatic past.

Despite this setback, another Bosch: Legacy spinoff focusing on Detective Renée Ballard has received a series order. Maggie Q (Nikita) will portray Ballard, who leads the LAPD’s new and underfunded cold case division. The cast includes John Carroll Lynch, Courtney Taylor, Michael Mosley, Amy Hill, Rebecca Field, and Victoria Moroles.

Fans can expect to see Maggie Q’s debut as Ballard in the finale of Bosch: Legacy’s third and final season, set to release in March 2025 on Prime Video. This appearance will likely serve as a springboard for the character’s standalone series.

The Renée Ballard spinoff is still awaiting a release date. It continues the expansion of the Bosch universe, which began with the original series starring Titus Welliver as Harry Bosch, based on Michael Connelly’s bestselling novels.
