The night of the incident, Taylor was at home with his girlfriend, Jackie Garcia, and their 18-month-old child, unaware of the impending danger. While they slept, intruders broke into their house, intending to rob the place for cash. The break-in turned deadly when Taylor was shot, and by the time he reached Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, he had lost a significant amount of blood. Despite a 24-hour fight for his life, Taylor ultimately succumbed to his injury and passed away in the early hours of November 27, 2007.
