A&E’s Court Cam, the series that reminds us that truth is often stranger than fiction, returns with a double-header of courtroom chaos. Viewers seeking real-life drama with a dash of absurdity won’t be disappointed, as this week’s episodes feature everything from fleeing defendants to judges facing consequences for their own questionable courtroom conduct.
In “Runaway Groom” (airing at 9/8c), the courtroom becomes a track and field event when a defendant decides he’s had enough legal proceedings and makes a run for it. Fortunately, two civic-minded jurors take matters into their own hands, channeling their inner superhero and pursuing the escapee. The episode also captures a tense family confrontation, as a gallery member emotionally confronts their brother, accused of matricide.
The second installment, “Judge Not” (at 9:30/8:30c), examines the controversial actions of a judge whose courtroom theatrics lead to suspension. When a teenager nods off during proceedings, the judge’s disciplinary approach involves handcuffs and prison attire – a decision that ultimately lands them in hot water. Also featured is a heated exchange between a stalking suspect and a prosecutor, because apparently some people just can’t resist turning a legal battle into a personal squabble.
As always, Dan Abrams presides over the proceedings, offering his commentary and analysis, presumably with the kind of straight face that can only come from years of witnessing the bizarre side of the legal system.
Court Cam continues to offer a raw look at the often-unpredictable nature of courtrooms, reminding us that while justice may be blind, it’s also occasionally deaf to common sense. So, if you’re looking for an entertainingly chaotic escape from scripted drama, tune in to A&E on Wednesday, November 13, at 9/8c and 9:30/8:30c for two new episodes of Court Cam.
