Danny Trejo Trades Machetes for Trowels in HISTORY’s ‘Mysteries Unearthed’

From wielding machetes to unearthing mysteries, Danny Trejo is adding “television host” to his already eclectic resume. The HISTORY Channel is set to premiere “Mysteries Unearthed with Danny Trejo” on December 6.

The eight-episode series will see Trejo, the iconic character actor known for his gritty roles, exploring historical discoveries from hidden treasures to secret tunnels. Because who better to uncover the past than a guy who looks like he’s lived through most of it?

Now, I’m not saying Trejo is replacing Indiana Jones, but the premise certainly has a similar adventurous spirit. The series will explore a wide range of topics, from ancient artifacts emerging from melting permafrost to excavations that grab global headlines. Each episode will offer context and insight into these finds, exploring their significance and the legends surrounding them.

Whether this series is a genuine exploration of historical mysteries or just a vehicle for Trejo’s undeniable charisma is another thing. But let’s be honest, seeing Trejo ponder the mysteries of the universe is inherently entertaining, regardless of the subject matter. Plus, it’s probably a safer bet than handing him a machete and pointing him at a historical site.

“Mysteries Unearthed with Danny Trejo” premieres December 6th at 10pm ET/PT on The HISTORY Channel. Episodes will be available for streaming the following day on the HISTORY Channel app, history.com, and various VOD platforms.
