Salem, the town where heartbreak and deception are as common as bad wigs, celebrated the 59th anniversary of Days of Our Lives with a predictable mix of romantic highs and dramatic lows. While one couple found themselves on the precipice of marital bliss, another grappled with secrets and lies—because what’s an anniversary in Salem without a healthy dose of betrayal?
Paul Narita, seemingly allergic to shirts, made a grand return to Salem, sweeping Andrew Donovan off his feet with a surprise proposal. Andrew, equally averse to full clothing, enthusiastically accepted. Let’s hope their honeymoon doesn’t involve any near-death experiences or mistaken identities, two Salem staples.
Meanwhile, John Black, Salem’s resident super-spy, found himself once again prioritizing international intrigue over romance. Forced to miss his wedding anniversary with Marlena Evans due to “urgent ISA business” (read: plot device), John left Marlena understandably disappointed. Kristen DiMera, never one to miss an opportunity for mischief, seized the moment to torment her rival. It wouldn’t be Days without these women embroiled in petty squabbles, would it?
Adding even more turmoil to the anniversary festivities, Brady Black uncovered Kristen’s latest deception. Turns out, she lied about the second dose of the serum needed for Sarah Horton. Shocking. One might wonder why anyone trusts Kristen at this point, but then again, logic and Salem have never been close companions.
Elsewhere in Salem, Julie Williams appeared more worried about Doug Williams’ health than a simple winter cold would suggest. Could this be the beginning of a serious medical storyline? And younger generations tackled relationship woes, with Holly Jonas initially rejecting Tate Black’s apology before having a change of heart thanks to the wisdom of Maggie Kiriakis, Sarah, and Julie. As if that weren’t enough, Maggie and Sarah were stunned to learn that Cat Greene’s mother, Catharina, is still alive.
Days of Our Lives airs weekdays at 6:00 AM on Peacock.
