Denise Van Outen will uncover the secrets of supermarket buyers and their influence on British shoppers’ purchasing decisions in a new Channel 4 series. ‘Secrets of the Supermarket Buyers’ will see the presenter meet with current and former buyers from the nation’s biggest supermarket chains, understanding their tactics for deciding what products make it to the shelves and, ultimately, into shoppers’ trolleys.
The series will lift the lid on the strategies used by buyers to predict demand and spot the next big trends. It will also explore the tactics employed by discount disruptors and premium grocers to attract customers.
“I’m excited to get the inside scoop on who decides what we see on our supermarket shelves and peek behind the scenes to uncover even more surprises,” said Van Outen.
‘Secrets of the Supermarket Buyers’ is the latest in a line of shows presented by Van Outen that offer an insider’s look at the supermarket industry. Previous programs include ‘Secrets of the Middle Aisle’ and ‘Secrets of Supermarket Own-Brands’, which aired in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
The new four-part series is produced by Glasgow-based production company Firecrest Films for Channel 4. It was commissioned by Deborah Dunnett, Commissioning Editor for Lifestyle, and Jo Street, Head of Lifestyle, for Channel 4’s Glasgow Hub. Nicole Kleeman serves as the Executive Producer for Firecrest Films.
