Zak Bagans, he of the perpetually furrowed brow and hushed pronouncements, dispatches his crew to Armero, Colombia, the site of a devastating volcanic eruption in 1985. Naturally, this isn’t for a relaxing spa getaway. Instead, Bagans and company aim to uncover “twisted terror,” “local lore,” and of course, “deeply disturbing paranormal activity.” Because what’s a tragedy without a side of ghost stories?
The episode focuses on the aftermath of the eruption, exploring the stories of those who perished and the lingering impact on the area. While the human tragedy is undoubtedly compelling, one can’t help but wonder how much of the episode will focus on actual history versus Bagans’ signature brand of spooky speculation.
Will we learn about the geological factors that led to the eruption, or will we mostly see shaky footage of dust motes and hear whispers attributed to restless spirits? At least the location seems genuinely unsettling, even without the added layer of paranormal embellishment.
