Last Days of the Space Age

Disney+ Australian original series Last Days of the Space Age will premiere on the streaming platform in October. The eight-part series, starring Radha Mitchell, Jesse Spencer, and Deborah Mailman, is set in 1979 Western Australia.

The show follows three families in a tight-knit coastal community, exploring how their marriages, friendships, and futures are put to the test during a pivotal moment in history. With a global beauty pageant contest creating a media frenzy and a power strike threatening the region, the end of an era looms large, and change is inevitable.

The series also features a powerhouse ensemble of local and international talent, including Iain Glen, Linh Dan Pham, Thomas Weatherall, George Mason, Vico Thai, Ines English, Jacek Koman, and more. It is produced by Princess Pictures and created by David Chidlow, with a writing team including Alice Addison, Dot West, and Jeremy and Alan Nguyen.

Bharat Nalluri serves as the set-up director, alongside directors Rachel Ward and Kriv Stenders. The executive production team includes Laura Waters, Emma Fitzsimons, Chris Loveall, Stephanie Swedlove, Anna Dokoza, and Nalluri and Chidlow, with Christine Pham as series producer.

Last Days of the Space Age was filmed in Western Australia and New South Wales, with support from Screen NSW, the Made in NSW Fund, and Screen West.

The series premieres on Disney+ on Wednesday, October 2.
