Dominic Rains Departs Chicago Med

Chicago Med

Dominic Rains is leaving the NBC medical drama “Chicago Med” after five seasons, where he played the role of Crockett Marcel, an ace emergency room surgeon. Rains joined the show in Season 5, and his character quickly became a series regular, known for his strong presence in the operating room and his close relationships with coworkers.

The Season 9 finale hinted at a potential departure for Rains’ character, Crockett, as he grappled with the news of a former patient’s death and the suicide of the patient’s father, triggering Crockett’s own feelings of grief and loss. Following these events, Crockett was encouraged by Sharon Goodwin to take a step back.

While it is unclear if Rains will return as a guest star in the upcoming 10th season, his exit mirrors those of other long-running cast members across the “One Chicago” franchise, including Kara Killmer and Eamonn Walker from “Chicago Fire” and Tracy Spiridakos from “Chicago P.D.”

With Rains’ departure, “Chicago Med” joins its sister shows in experiencing significant cast changes, signaling a time of transition for the long-running franchise.
