Dr. Jen Ashton, the longtime medical journalist and co-host of GMA3, has signed off from Good Morning America. Her final episode aired on June 27, 2024, concluding a 13-year association with ABC News. An emotional farewell marked her departure, including a 10-minute video tribute and messages from colleagues and friends.
Ashton first joined ABC in 2012 as their chief medical correspondent. She later took on the role of co-host for GMA3 in March 2020, providing crucial insights and explanations during the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to her television career, Ashton practiced as a board-certified OB/GYN and Obesity Medicine Specialist at various hospitals in New York and New Jersey.
In her farewell address, Ashton reflected on the significant health moments she covered during her tenure, calling it “an incredible honor and privilege.” She also expressed gratitude to the viewers, stating, “You’re the reason I do what I do.”

Her departure was met with support from ABC executives and colleagues. Debra OConnell, who leads ABC’s news division, offered her well-wishes, stating, “Dr. Ashton has immeasurably contributed to ABC News… She will always have a home at ABC.”
GMA3 continues with hosts DeMarco Morgan and Eva Pilgrim, while the search for Ashton’s replacement is ongoing as of June 2024.
