Drew Barrymore shared a touching story on The Drew Barrymore Show on Monday November 4, recounting how her daughter and Adam Sandler’s daughter recently watched their 2004 film, 50 First Dates, together. “My daughter and Adam’s daughter were watching it at my house the other night,” Barrymore explained, adding with a laugh, “And I was like, ‘Why are you guys watching this? Don’t you get enough of me and your dad?'” She expressed her sweet surprise at their enjoyment of the movie.
The anecdote came up during a chat with Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage actors Montana Jordan and Emily Osment. Osment commented on how rewarding it must be for Barrymore to witness her children embrace her work, to which Barrymore agreed, noting, “It is! Because your kids will — a lot of the time — reject so many things about you that when you see them embracing something, you’re like, ‘Oh, how fantastic!'”
50 First Dates tells the story of Henry (Sandler) and Lucy (Barrymore), whose romance is complicated by Lucy’s amnesia. Barrymore also recently revealed a scrapped alternate ending where the couple did not stay together.
The Drew Barrymore Show airs weekdays on CBS.
