HBO used New York Comic Con to launch the trailer for “Dune: The Sisterhood,” finally giving viewers a glimpse of the long-delayed series.
Premiering November 17th on HBO and Max, the six-episode season adapts Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s “Sisterhood of Dune,” a prequel set 10,000 years before the original “Dune” narrative. The story follows two Harkonnen sisters fighting to protect humanity and establish the Bene Gesserit.
The cast, led by Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and Travis Fimmel, certainly has potential. But given the show’s troubled production, including a showrunner change and extensive reshoots, skepticism is warranted.
Alison Schapker serves as showrunner and executive producer, alongside a sprawling list of executive producers including Diane Ademu-John, Anna Foerster, and others.
Whether “The Sisterhood” can escape the shadow of its difficult development and deliver a compelling story within the “Dune” universe is the key question.
