Teddy Mitchell is set for an unexpected reunion this autumn when his ex-wife, Nicola, arrives in Albert Square without warning. Nicola quickly establishes herself in the area, introducing herself to the Mitchell family and working to rebuild relationships with her sons, Harry and Barney. Teddy is less than pleased with Nicola’s sudden return, but she remains determined to hold her ground.
Laura Doddington, known for her roles in Doctors and The Midwich Cuckoos, has been cast as Nicola. She is already filming and will make her on-screen debut in late autumn. Executive Producer Chris Clenshaw noted, “Like all the great Mitchell women, Nicola is feisty, strong, and loves her family. She and Teddy share a very complicated history, which will be fun to explore.”
Laura Doddington expressed her excitement about joining the show, stating: “I still can’t believe I’ve joined EastEnders – I keep pinching myself! Nicola is a complex woman who comes in like the Tasmanian Devil. She’s strong and unapologetic about who she is.”
EastEnders is produced by BBC Studios and will air Nicola’s storyline on BBC One and iPlayer this autumn.
