UKTV has released first look images for the upcoming reimagined series of Bergerac, set to air in early 2025.
Damien Molony (The Split, Brassic, Crashing) leads the cast as Jim Bergerac, alongside Zoë Wanamaker (My Family, Shadow and Bone, Black Ops) as Charlie Hungerford, Jim’s mother-in-law, and Philip Glenister (Steeltown Murders, Life on Mars) as Arthur Wakefield. Additional cast members include Pippa Haywood, Robert Gilbert, Sasha Behar, Tim Renouf, and Celine Arden.
The series is written by Toby Whithouse, Brian Fillis, Catherine Tregenna, and Polly Buckle. Based on the original series created by Robert Banks Stewart, which starred John Nettles and ran for nine series on the BBC between 1981 and 1991, unlike the original, the new series will feature a single murder mystery unfolding across all six episodes.
Viewers will meet Jim Bergerac as he grapples with grief and alcoholism following his wife’s death. When a member of a prominent Jersey family is found murdered, Bergerac must face his personal demons to solve the case. The series is directed by Colm McCarthy and Sean Spencer, with Clare Alan producing. Executive producers include Ben Bickerton, Philip Trethowan, Toby Whithouse, Brian Constantine, and Helen Perry.
The six-part U&Original series is produced by BlackLight TV, part of Banijay UK, and Jersey-based Westward Studios, with support from Visit Jersey. Bergerac will air on U&DRAMA and U in 2025.
