FOX Entertainment Studios, headed by Fernando Szew, has named Hannah Pillemer as Head of Scripted Entertainment and Allison Wallach to lead Unscripted. This follows FOX Entertainment’s recent restructuring into network, studio, and global distribution units.
Pillemer, formerly of MarVista (acquired by FOX in 2021), inherits a mixed bag of scripted projects. From FOX network comedies like the so-so “Animal Control” to Hallmark dramas and a hefty slate of made-for-platform movies, maintaining quality control across such a broad portfolio will be a challenge. Her oversight also includes the indie label Tideline, with the upcoming feature “Slanted” as its latest effort.
Wallach takes on the arguably more crucial unscripted division, responsible for the hits that keep the FOX network afloat. She’ll oversee FOX Alternative Entertainment (home of reliable performers like “The Masked Singer”), Gordon Ramsay’s content empire, TMZ, and international partnerships. The pressure is on to deliver bankable, broad-appeal content, and whether she can expand beyond the current crop of familiar formats remains to be seen.
FOX Entertainment, now comprised of network, studio, and global arms, is clearly prioritizing expansion. The studio division includes scripted, unscripted, animation (Bento Box), TMZ, Tideline, and Ramsay’s offerings. Whether this sprawling portfolio can deliver consistent quality across such disparate brands is a key question.
