FOX is betting big on its midseason lineup, hoping to score a touchdown with viewers after Super Bowl LIX. The lineup presents a calculated risk, banking on a blend of comfort viewing and untested concepts.
The midseason onslaught commences Thursday, January 2, 2025, with a comedic one-two punch. Animal Control returns for its third season at 9:00 PM ET/PT, leading into the series premiere of Going Dutch at 9:30 PM ET/PT. Going Dutch, starring Denis Leary as a displaced U.S. Army Colonel navigating the quirks of the Netherlands, features a supporting cast including Taylor Misiak, Danny Pudi, Laci Mosely, and Hal Cumpston. The comedy’s success hinges on whether Leary’s gruff charm can translate to a fish-out-of-water scenario.
Also on January 2, Gordon Ramsay brings his fiery persona back to Hell’s Kitchen at 8:00 PM ET/PT. The “Head Chefs Only” twist promises a higher level of culinary competition. Will this be enough to revitalize the format? That’s the million-dollar question (or perhaps the Ramsay-dollar question).
The following week sees the arrival of Doc, a new medical drama inspired by a true story, premiering Tuesday, January 7 at 9:00 PM ET/PT. Preceding Doc is a strategically placed Kitchen Nightmares: Road to Super Bowl LIX at 8:00 PM ET/PT, hoping to draft off the Super Bowl hype.
Wednesday, January 8 sees the return of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test at 8:00 PM ET/PT. Season 3 boasts a fresh batch of 16 celebrity recruits, testing the endurance of both the participants and the audience’s appetite for watching famous people suffer.
9-1-1: Lone Star and Rescue: HI-Surf make their winter return on Monday, January 20 at 8:00 PM ET/PT and 9:00 PM ET/PT, respectively. However, 9-1-1: Lone Star fans, take note: this is a farewell tour, with the series finale airing Monday, February 3, 2025, from 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM ET/PT.
Now for the main event: FOX’s “Super Week,” following Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, February 9, 2025. The Floor, hosted by Rob Lowe, gets the coveted post-game premiere slot for its Season 3 debut. Talk about pressure! FOX is clearly banking on Lowe’s charm to draw in a massive audience.
Rescue: HI-Surf also gets a “Super Week” boost with a special episode on Monday, February 10 at 9:00 PM ET/PT. The Masked Singer returns for its lucky 13th season on Wednesday, February 12 at 8:00 PM ET/PT, followed by The Floor at 9:00 PM ET/PT. And rounding out the week is Next Level Chef Season 4, premiering Thursday, February 13 at 8:00 PM ET/PT.
So, there you have it: FOX’s midseason lineup. Will it be a touchdown or a fumble? Time will tell. What are you most excited to watch? Let us know on social and share this article with your fellow TV fans!
