‘Frasier’ Season 2, Episode 6 Recap: Cape Cod Misunderstandings and Missed Connections

Frasier Season 2 Episode 6

The latest ‘Frasier’ finds Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) and Roz (Peri Gilpin), along with her daughter and his son, in Cape Cod for a holiday weekend. Frasier’s inevitable matchmaking scheme targets Fredd (Jack Cutmore-Scotty) and Eve (Jess Salgueiro), with Roz reluctantly drawn into his machinations. The ensuing misunderstandings, as Freddy and Eve mistake Frasier’s romantic setup as intended for him and Roz, drive much of the episode’s humor.

Roz’s daughter, Alice (played by Kelsey Grammer’s real-life daughter, Greer Grammer), makes her first appearance, though any romantic potential with Freddy is quickly quashed. The episode’s attempts to include Alan (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and David (Anders Keith) feel shoehorned in, distracting from the central narrative. Alan’s lengthy scam story and David’s odd board game are largely superfluous.

The Cape Cod setting effectively contains the farcical elements, resulting in a more focused, less chaotic feel. Frasier’s self-delusion and Roz’s growing exasperation with his meddling generate some of the episode’s best moments. The writers wisely avoid any forced romantic tension between Frasier and Roz, solidifying their platonic dynamic.

While the Freddy-Eve pairing lacks spark, the episode is generally light and entertaining, relying on the show’s established strengths in dialogue and character interaction. Freddy’s romantic prospects, much like the show’s overall direction, remain uncertain.
