“Scar Tissue” delivers another masterclass in character-driven horror, proving that FROM’s strength lies not just in its terrifying mysteries but in its deeply human portrayals of grief, resilience, and connection. While the overarching plot continues to simmer, this episode focuses on the emotional fallout of recent events, exploring how the residents of Fromville cope with loss and trauma in their own unique ways.

Donna (Elizabeth Saunders), ever the stoic caregiver, takes on the grim task of burying Dale, finding a strange solace in the ritual. Her solitary act of respect for the dead is interrupted by two poignant encounters. First, Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno) offers an unexpected hug, a silent acknowledgment of shared grief that momentarily breaks through Donna’s tough exterior.

Later, Kenny (Ricky He) seeks refuge from the Matthews family drama, and Donna, with her characteristic empathy, opens her home to him. These seemingly small moments of connection become powerful acts of resistance against the dehumanizing forces of Fromville.

Meanwhile, Victor (Scott McCord) and Henry (Robert Joy) venture into the terrifying tunnels in search of Jasper, the ventriloquist dummy Victor believes holds a key to his lost memories. The claustrophobic descent into darkness is a masterclass in horror filmmaking, playing on primal fears and ratcheting up the tension with every creak and shadow. Their journey is also a study in role reversal, with Victor taking the lead and protecting his father, showing just how much their rediscovered relationship is evolving.

The episode’s most unsettling storyline revolves around Fatima’s pregnancy. After weeks of disturbing cravings, the ultrasound reveals…nothing. The absence of a fetus is more terrifying than any monstrous reveal, tapping into the primal fear of loss and the potential for medical gaslighting. Pegah Ghafoori’s performance really captures the raw terror and uncertainty of Fatima’s situation.

Elsewhere, Jade (David Alpay) remains obsessed with the bottle trees, convinced they hold the key to escaping Fromville. His frantic theorizing provides a welcome dose of dark humor. The discovery of a second bottle tree throws Jade’s calculations into disarray, but his unwavering optimism is infectious. The episode culminates in a chilling revelation, as Tabitha recognizes the landscape depicted in Jade’s numerical patterns, suggesting a deeper connection to the town’s mysteries than anyone could have imagined.

“Scar Tissue” may be a slower-paced episode, but its focus on character development and emotional resonance makes it one of the season’s most powerful installments. The quiet moments of connection, the unspoken fears, and the lingering questions about Fatima’s pregnancy create an atmosphere of dread that is far more effective than any jump scare. As the season enters its final stretch, the mysteries of Fromville continue to deepen.
