Look, I’m not going to pretend that watching people flee the police is high art. But let’s be real, sometimes you crave a dose of pure, uncut adrenaline, and A&E’s Fugitives: Caught on Tape understands that primal urge. This Wednesday, they’re doubling down on the mayhem with two new episodes, “Three-State Pursuit” and “Kayak Escape,” airing back-to-back at 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM ET/PT, respectively.
“Three-State Pursuit” kicks things off with a chase that spans, well, three states. If you’ve ever wondered if those multi-jurisdictional pursuits they show on the news are actually as chaotic as they seem, this episode is likely to confirm your suspicions. Plus, there’s the added bonus of some suspected car thieves attempting to blend in on a golf course, which, frankly, is the kind of ill-conceived brilliance I can appreciate. Oh, and there’s a lady who leads police on a wild chase while inexplicably still managing to observe traffic laws.
Then, in “Kayak Escape,” we graduate from golf course hide-and-seek to aquatic evasion. A fugitive, presumably tired of land-based travel, tries to make a break for it in a stolen kayak. Whether this bold strategy succeeds is something you’ll have to discover yourself. And let’s not forget the bonus action: a reckless motorcyclist attempting to outmaneuver the long arm of the law. It’s a whole buffet of questionable decisions.
One thing Fugitives has going for it is the sheer variety of footage it uses. Bodycams, dashcams, security cameras, even doorbell cams—they’ve got it all. It’s like a crowdsourced police procedural, giving us a view from practically every angle except, you know, the inside the fugitive’s head. (Though sometimes their actions speak volumes.) The show also offers some glimpses into the tech and tactics employed by law enforcement. You might learn something. Or you might just enjoy the rubbernecking. I’m not here to judge.
Tune in to A&E this Wednesday, November 13, at 10:00 PM ET/PT for “Three-State Pursuit” and 10:30 PM ET/PT for “Kayak Escape.”
