Good Morning America: Dylan Horton, Phoebe-Rae Taylor (ABC, Monday, November 18, 2024)

Good Morning America

This Monday, Good Morning America is serving up a veritable Thanksgiving buffet of content: inspiration, holiday tips, and the ever-present siren song of retail therapy.

First, the movie segment: Phoebe-Rae Taylor and Rosemarie DeWitt will discuss Out of My Mind, the adaptation of Sharon M. Draper’s bestselling novel. The film centers on Melody Brooks, a young girl with cerebral palsy who, as these stories tend to go, overcomes considerable obstacles. Taylor, who herself has cerebral palsy, stars as Melody.

Then, GMA pivots to the genuinely inspiring story of Dylan Horton. The Houston Texans defensive end, poised to make his 2024 season debut against the Dallas Cowboys, will talk about his battle with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. It’s a comeback story that’s difficult not to root for.

But let’s be real, for many, the most pressing concern this time of year is the looming Thanksgiving feast and the accompanying grocery bill. Chef Jeremy Ford will attempt to alleviate some of that stress by offering tips for a budget-friendly Thanksgiving dinner.

Finally, because apparently inspiration and fiscal responsibility aren’t enough, ABC e-commerce editor Tory Johnson returns with “Deals & Steals.” So, after being inspired by Horton and slightly terrified by the prospect of holiday expenses, viewers can soothe their anxieties with a little retail therapy. It’s the American way, after all.
