Grantchester returns with a new episode on PBS as part of the Masterpiece series. Airing on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at 9:00 PM, Geordie (Robson Green) and the new vicar, Alphy Kottaram (Rishi Nair), find themselves starting their relationship on uncertain footing. However, they soon find common ground as they investigate the murder of a local landowner.
So far this season, in the first episode of the ninth season of Grantchester, Will and Geordie investigate the death of a circus performer. They discover a bag of money and a pawn shop receipt hidden in a crate, which turns out to be a forgery. Feathers, a circus performer, has disappeared with the real jewellery. Will receives a surprising offer that makes him question his life in Grantchester.
In the second episode, an abandoned baby is discovered on the same day that a hotel manager is found dead. Geordie is blindsided by Will’s news. Alphy and Geordie’s murder investigation uncovers a tangled web of betrayal and deceit. A murder at Esme’s (Skye Degruttola) office sends shockwaves through the Keating family.
It was an emotional episode last week as Will (Tom Brittney) said his goodbyes so it will be interesting see how this new dynamic between Geordie and Alphy beds in, they will have time to develop a relationship too as the series has been renewed for a tenth season.
