Hallmark+ continues its holiday programming blitz with “The Lin Family,” the third episode of the limited series Holidazed. This week’s storyline centers on Ted Lin (Osric Chau) and his fiancé Marcus (Shawn Ahmed), who are preparing to celebrate their engagement with Ted’s family over Christmas. Sounds festive enough, right? But the arrival of Grandma Lin (Lucille Soong) throws a potential wrench into the holiday cheer, as Ted hasn’t yet come out to her.
Cue the inevitable sitcom shenanigans: to avoid upsetting Grandma, the entire Lin family decides to pretend that Marcus is actually engaged to Ted’s sister, Ella (Jasmine Chen). Surely that won’t lead to any awkward misunderstandings, forced smiles, or farcical near-disasters. We can anticipate a flurry of comedic mishaps as the Lins attempt to maintain this elaborate charade.
Beneath the surface of holiday hijinks, “The Lin Family” is expected to touch on themes of family acceptance and cultural differences. Will Grandma Lin prove to be more open-minded than Ted initially fears? Or will the family’s carefully constructed deception come crashing down around them like a poorly decorated gingerbread house? The episode also features Jasmine Chen as Ella and the always welcome Lucille Soong, familiar to many from her role as Grandma Huang in Fresh Off the Boat.
Holidazed “The Lin Family” premieres Thursday, November 21 at 12 a.m. ET/PT on Hallmark+.
