John calls Harper to the Diner to support her sister, Dana, who is feeling overwhelmed. Marshall’s strategy takes an unexpected turn when he receives a note, leading him to request an adjournment.
Alf is enraged by individuals profiting from Stevie Marlow’s memory by selling knockoff t-shirts and taking insensitive selfies at her memorial shrine. He expresses his desire for the community to return to normalcy and for Mali to resume his surf lessons. Later, Mali confides in Kirby about his cultural beliefs and the reason for his reluctance to set foot on the beach.
Alf takes Rose to witness the unauthorized use of Stevie’s likeness, and she confronts the hawkers, demanding to see a permit. Mali explains the concept of “Sorry Business” to Kirby and shares his cultural beliefs regarding the disturbance of spirits. He also expresses his support for a smoking ceremony to help Stevie’s spirit find peace.
