How (Not) To Get Rid of a Body

In the fifth episode of ID’s How (Not) to Get Rid of a Body, “A Neighborhood of Monsters,” the focus is on the disappearance of a 17-year-old pregnant girl, initially considered a runaway.

However, the case takes a chilling turn when it is linked to Ariel Castro, the man responsible for the infamous abduction and captivity of Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry, and Gina DeJesus in Cleveland, Ohio.

Ariel Castro’s heinous crimes shocked the nation. Between 2002 and 2004, he abducted and imprisoned three young women in his Cleveland home, subjecting them to years of abuse and torture. It wasn’t until 2013 that Amanda Berry escaped, along with her six-year-old daughter, and contacted the police, bringing an end to their nightmare.

Castro faced a total of 937 criminal counts, including kidnapping and rape, ultimately pleading guilty as part of a plea bargain. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, reflecting the severity of his crimes. Unfortunately, Castro took his own life in prison in December 2018, ending any further opportunity for justice or closure for his victims.

How (Not) to Get Rid of a Body: A Neighborhood of Monsters airs on Wednesday, 2 October 2024, at 10:00 PM on Investigation Discovery.
