Hulu Cancels 'Black Cake' After Just One Season

Hulu has decided to cancel Black Cake after its first season, ending the drama’s run on the platform. The show, which launched in November 2023, was based on Charmaine Wilkerson’s novel and adapted by Marissa Jo Cerar. It ran for eight episodes and starred Mia Isaac, Adrienne Warren, Chipo Chung, and Glynn Turman.

Black Cake explored the life of a woman whose hidden past was uncovered by her family after her death. Despite its intricate storyline and talented cast, Hulu did not offer any specific reasons for the show’s cancellation.
