The Lifetime original “ripped from the headlines” movie Husband, Father, Killer: The Alyssa Pladl Story is a disturbing tale of a troubled relationship and its devastating consequences.

The film stars Jackie Cruz as Alyssa, Matthew MacCaull as Steven, and Matreya Scarrwener as Katie, and airs on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 8:00 PM on Lifetime.

The story, based on true events, begins with the intense relationship between Alyssa, an impressionable teenager, and Steven. They quickly move in together, and soon Alyssa gives birth to their daughter. However, their lives take a dark turn when Steven starts physically abusing the infant. Fearing for her child’s safety, Alyssa makes the heart-wrenching decision to put her up for adoption.

Years later, their lives are turned upside down when their now-adult daughter, Katie, seeks them out. Alyssa and Steven immediately form a connection with Katie, and Steven convinces her to move in with them and their two young daughters. He promises Katie opportunities to pursue her passions, but his true intentions are soon revealed.

Steven starts neglecting his family, focusing all his attention on Katie. Alyssa, seeing the warning signs, decides to move out. However, the situation escalates when Alyssa discovers that Katie and Steven are engaged in an affair and are expecting a child together.

Alyssa tries to confront them and expose Steven’s abusive past, but Katie refuses to listen. Unfortunately, Katie realizes the truth too late, and the consequences are devastating.

The film is directed by Elisabeth Rohm, who also executive produces, along with Kara Feifer, Navid Soofi, Stephen Tolkin, and Tim Johnson.
