Acorn TV has dropped the trailer for Inspector Ellis, a new three-part detective drama starring the formidable Sharon D Clarke. Clarke plays the titular DCI Ellis, a sharp, no-nonsense cop brought in to crack the cases that stump local police.
Each 90-minute episode finds Ellis and her partner, DS Harper (Andrew Gower), parachuted into a new police station, where they face not only baffling murders but also the skepticism of local detectives. As a Black female DCI, Ellis is no stranger to being underestimated, but her dedication to justice and empathy for victims fuel her investigations.
The trailer above gives us a glimpse of what looks to be a chilling, suspenseful drama with a strong lead performance. Inspector Ellis premieres on Acorn TV on November 4th in the US and Canada, with subsequent episodes airing weekly.
Inspector Ellis is a co-production between Company Pictures and Northern Ireland Screen, commissioned for Acorn TV by Catherine Mackin and executive produced by Mackin and Bea Tammer of Acorn Media Enterprises. The series was also ordered by Channel 5 with Sebastian Cardwell and Paul Testar serving as executive producers.
Michele Buck and Lucy Raffety are executive producers for Company Pictures, alongside producer Chris Martin and writers Sian Ejiwunmi-Le Berre and Paul Logue. All3 Media International will handle international distribution.
