ITV has acquired two major series, Welcome to Chippendales and Culprits, from Disney Entertainment. Both shows are slated to be available for free later this year via ITVX, marking a notable addition to the streaming platform’s true crime and thriller offerings.
Welcome to Chippendales recounts the dramatic rise of Somen “Steve” Banerjee, an Indian immigrant who became the founder of a male-stripper empire, willing to cross any boundary to achieve success. The show features a cast including Kumail Nanjiani, Murray Bartlett, and Juliette Lewis, with guest appearances by Dan Stevens and Nicola Peltz Beckham.
Culprits is an intense crime thriller focusing on Joe Petrus, a man whose secret criminal past is catching up to him. With his family at risk, Joe returns to London to track down his former associates. This series boasts a British cast including Gemma Arterton, Nathan Stewart-Jarret and Niamh Algar.
This acquisition deal was arranged by Sasha Breslau, ITV’s Head of Content Acquisitions.
