Buddy Oliver, the 13-year-old son of celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, is stepping into the spotlight with his own cooking show, “Cooking Buddies.” The ten-part series will air on CBBC and BBC iPlayer, starting July 10, with nine episodes this summer and a tenth episode scheduled for Christmas.

In each episode, Buddy will be joined by a new friend, sharing his passion for cooking and teaching them how to make simple, delicious meals. In return, his guests will showcase their hobbies and talents, introducing Buddy to everything from karate to street art.

Buddy will guide his guests through recipes like spicy tomato pasta, pizza, and crispy chicken, offering helpful tips and tricks along the way. The show promises an engaging culinary adventure for young chefs and their families, with surprise appearances from the Oliver family and the family dog, border collie Conker, voiced by actor and comedian John Sparkes.

“I teach some new friends my tasty recipes… and they teach me something they’re super good at,” said Buddy. “I’ve had a go at things like karate, BMX racing, street art, and boxing – lots of stuff I’ve never tried before. It’s been so much fun, even when I’ve not been very good at something!”

“Cooking Buddies” was commissioned by Senior Head of BBC Children’s Commissioning 7+, Sarah Muller, and executive produced by Fiona Piper for the BBC and Samantha Beddoes for the Jamie Oliver Group. The series aims to bring people together, encouraging a shared love of cooking and exploring new foods.

Speaking about the show, Jamie Oliver said, “Being able to cook is such an important skill for kids to learn, it’s up there with reading and writing – so I’m really proud of Buddy for making this brilliant show that encourages others to give it a go.”
