Jennifer Hudson welcomes Holly Robinson Peete and Rodney Peete, a Hollywood couple seemingly immune to the typical relationship woes that plague the entertainment industry. They’ll be discussing their hosting gig on “Queens Court,” a show I’ve somehow managed to avoid entirely. Is it another dating competition? A reality show about real-life queens? I’m picturing elaborate gowns and tiaras, but perhaps I’m giving the producers too much credit. Regardless, I’m sure Peete and Peete will exude their usual charm and offer some carefully crafted anecdotes about the “challenges” of working together.
Then, the show takes a turn for the genuinely inspiring with the arrival of Madison Crowell and her mother. Crowell garnered attention for racking up over $15 million in scholarships and acceptances to 231 colleges, ultimately choosing a full ride to High Point University.
As a first-generation college student, her story is certainly compelling, and it’s hard to be cynical about someone achieving such remarkable academic success. I’m sure there will be talk of perseverance, hard work, and the importance of education, and honestly, I’m here for it. It’s a refreshing change of pace from the usual parade of celebrities hawking their latest projects.
