In Monday’s episode of Jeopardy!, three contestants competed for the top spot. Caryn Radick, an archivist from Kendall Park, New Jersey; Jack Swansey, a writer from Durham, North Carolina; and Eamonn Campbell, a lawyer originally from Manchester, Vermont, who entered as the returning champion with winnings of $13,700.
The first round featured categories like Begins & Ends with “E”, October in History, and U.S. Geological Survey Says…. Eamonn made the first significant move by correctly answering a Daily Double in the category Multiples of 3, wagering $1,000 on the 15th Amendment that granted Black men the right to vote.
At the first break, Eamonn led with $4,000, followed by Caryn at $3,200, and Jack with $1,200. However, by the time Double Jeopardy! began, Jack had edged into the lead with $4,000, closely followed by Eamonn with $3,800, and Caryn with $2,600.
Double Jeopardy! introduced new categories including Asian Geography, Wedding Songs, and Alliteration. Jack increased his lead by wagering $3,000 on a Daily Double in the category Signs & Signals, correctly identifying the red lion as a popular pub name in Britain.
Eamonn responded with a modest wager on a Daily Double in Alliteration, but an incorrect answer caused him to lose $1,400. Despite this, Eamonn kept the game close, entering Final Jeopardy! with $14,800, barely ahead of Jack’s $14,600, while Caryn trailed with $4,600.
The Final Jeopardy! category was Corporate Mascots. The clue referred to a 2014 tweet describing a mascot as “the embodiment of a milkshake or taste bud.” Both Eamonn and Caryn answered correctly with “What is Grimace?” Eamonn made a bold wager of $14,700, bringing his total to $29,500 and securing his second consecutive win. Jack finished with just $1, while Caryn ended the game with $7,600.
Eamonn’s two-day total now stands at $43,200.
