Jeopardy! Wednesday October 16, 2024, Recap, Winner and Final Answer

Jeopardy! Ken Jennings

The latest episode of Jeopardy! aired on October 16, 2024, featuring three contestants: Rachel Cassidy, an associate professor from Providence, Rhode Island; Jay Eversman, an environmental attorney from St. Louis, Missouri; and Rishabh Wuppalapati, an undergraduate student from Vernon Hills, Illinois. Rishabh entered the competition as a returning champion, having won $22,201 in his previous appearance.

The categories in the Jeopardy! round included “Hey, Pumpkin!”, “A World Tour”, “Enjoy a Concerto”, “Holidays & Observances”, “Show Biz Movies”, and “‘Out’ With It”. Rishabh secured a lead early on, but stumbled on a Daily Double in the “Enjoy a Concerto” category, where he wagered $1,000 and missed the correct response of “What is harp?” By the end of the round, Rishabh led with $3,200, while Jay and Rachel trailed close behind.

In Double Jeopardy!, new categories such as “American History”, “The Book Nook”, and “What’s on TV?” brought more challenging clues. Rachel made a strong move with a correct response to a Daily Double in “The Book Nook”, adding $2,500 to her total. Jay, however, faltered on a Daily Double in the “The _ of the _” category, dropping $2,600, putting him behind heading into Final Jeopardy!.

Both Rishabh and Rachel answered correctly with “What is Columbia?” Rishabh wagered $9,801, bringing his total to $20,201 and securing his second consecutive win. Rachel finished close behind with $19,701, while Jay ended with just $1.

Final scores: Rishabh $20,201, Rachel $19,701, Jay $1. Rishabh now has a two-day total of $42,402.
