In Monday’s episode of Jeopardy!, three contestants faced off: Tristan Brown, a re-entry employment advocate from Richmond, Virginia; Marcus Ghiringhelli, a record store clerk from Portland, Oregon; and Kelly Gates, a librarian from Medford, Massachusetts, returning as the one-day champion with $23,201.

The Jeopardy! round featured categories like “Iran, So Far Away,” “Lose a Letter,” “A Pup Quiz,” and “Nursery Rhyme Lines.” Marcus took an early lead with a Daily Double in the “Lose a Letter” category, doubling his score to $2,400. By the first break, Marcus held a slight edge with $3,200, while Kelly and Tristan followed closely behind.

Double Jeopardy! introduced categories like “Nonfiction,” “Getting Invested,” and “Rock & Pop Firsts.” Marcus attempted another Daily Double, but a misstep in the “In Consequential” category cost him $2,500, leaving him at $1,300. Meanwhile, Kelly climbed into first place by correctly answering a Daily Double in “Nonfiction,” raising her total to $10,100. However, Tristan managed to secure the lead heading into Final Jeopardy! with $14,600.

The Final Jeopardy! category, “Italian Words & Phrases,” posed a challenging clue about a theme depicted by Bellini and Michelangelo that is not explicitly mentioned in the Bible but relates to the “Seven Sorrows of Mary.” Only Tristan answered correctly with “What is the Pietà?” He wagered $8,100, bringing his final total to $22,700 and securing the win. Kelly finished with $10,800, while Marcus trailed with $3,300.

Despite a strong performance, Kelly’s reign as champion came to an end as Tristan claimed victory and moved on to the next round.
