Jeopardy! Thursday October 24, 2024, Recap, Winner and Final Answer

Jeopardy! Ken Jennings

On Thursday’s episode of Jeopardy!, Will Wallace, a game design director from Austin, Texas, returned as a two-day champion with winnings totaling $28,799. He competed against Dan Meyer, a fundraising professional from Chicago, Illinois, and Kiki Jamieson, a nonprofit consultant from Toronto, Ontario.

The contestants tackled a variety of categories, including Random Books in Fiction Series, Vehicles, We Stand for Nothing, “Bad” Language, Succession, and Garden State Parkway Rest Area Names. Dan found the first Daily Double in Random Books in Fiction Series, correctly identifying Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series for an added $1,000, putting him in the lead heading into the first break.

At the start of Double Jeopardy!, the categories shifted to National Parks, 4-Letter Opposites, Photographers & Their Craft, Ballad, Songbirds, and Snakes. Will secured the second Daily Double on the very first clue under Ballad, successfully identifying Casey Jones as the ballad subject who died with “one hand on the brake, the other on the whistle.” He added $2,000 to his score.

Kiki took a risk with the third Daily Double in Photographers & Their Craft but lost $3,000 when she couldn’t identify the term “embedded photographer,” which refers to photographers placed with military troops in combat zones. Going into Final Jeopardy!, Will maintained a lead with $13,400, trailed by Kiki with $10,800 and Dan with $8,200.

The Final Jeopardy! category, U.K. Music Charts, featured the clue: “Candle in the Wind 1997” knocked this song that asked a title question from the top spot as the U.K.’s all-time bestselling song. Will was the only contestant to correctly respond with “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”, nearly doubling his total to $26,799 and securing his position as a three-day champion with cumulative winnings of $55,598. Kiki finished in third place with $5,199, while Dan ended in second with $8,200.
