Jeopardy! Recap: Season 40 Episode 46 – Greg Jolin Secures Tournament of Champions Spot with Fifth Win

Jeopardy! Ken Jennings

Greg Jolin, a system specialist and accountant from Raymond, New Hampshire, continued his dominant Jeopardy! run, securing his fifth consecutive victory and a guaranteed spot in the Tournament of Champions. Jolin faced off against Adrienne Clermont, an ER doctor originally from Ithaca, New York, and Derek Hieronymus, a sales director from Hutto, Texas. Did anyone else hold their breath as the final scores were revealed? Jolin’s strategic gameplay and broad knowledge base proved too much for his competitors.

The episode featured a diverse range of categories, from “Friends of John Brown” to “Also Found in the Bathroom,” keeping the contestants (and viewers!) on their toes. While all three players demonstrated their Jeopardy! prowess, Jolin maintained a consistent lead throughout the game. Clermont and Hieronymus did manage to close the gap with successful Daily Doubles, but Jolin’s strong performance in Double Jeopardy!, particularly in categories like “All the Light We Can See” and “Catch-22”, solidified his advantage going into Final Jeopardy!.

The Final Jeopardy! category, “Countries,” presented a challenging question about time zones. While all three contestants correctly identified France as the country with the most time zones, Jolin’s substantial lead allowed him to secure the win without wagering any additional funds. He finished with a total of $24,600, bringing his five-day winnings to an impressive $135,002.
