Jeopardy! Monday November 18, 2024, Recap, Winner and Final Answer – “Clauson’s Run Continues”

Jeopardy! Ken Jennings

Monday’s Jeopardy! featured a returning champion with momentum and two challengers hoping to derail his winning streak. Paul Clauson, the tax analyst from Madison Heights, Michigan, swaggered back to the podium with $15,201 already in his pocket. Facing him were Jonelle Lonergan, a product manager from Boston, and Amy Fleenor, an attorney from Cleveland – both aiming to put a dent in Paul’s burgeoning Jeopardy! fund.

The Jeopardy! round offered a mix of the familiar and the quirky, from Latin phrases to the various slang terms for cash. Paul, proving his skill extends beyond tax codes, snagged the Daily Double and doubled his money, setting the stage for what looked to be another strong performance. While Jonelle maintained a slight edge going into the commercial break, the game was far from decided.

Double Jeopardy! upped the ante with categories like “Tough 9-Letter Words” and “Historical ‘T’,” testing the contestants’ vocabulary and knowledge of bygone eras. But it was Paul who truly thrived in this environment, demonstrating a Daily Double prowess that would make Ken Jennings proud. He swept all three, transforming a competitive game into a runaway victory. Jonelle and Amy, despite their best efforts, found themselves significantly behind as Final Jeopardy! loomed.

The final clue, a stumper about a crusading American woman from 1900, proved tricky for all three contestants, the correct response was “Who was Carrie Nation?” Paul, perhaps overconfident from his Daily Double dominance, wagered a paltry $101. Jonelle, however, managed to pull off the correct response, boosting her score considerably. Alas, it wasn’t enough to overtake Paul, who secured his second victory with a final total of $21,099. His two-day winnings now stand at a healthy $36,300.
