Discovery Channel is giving adventurer Josh Gates a new platform to explore the unexplained with Expedition Files. A preview episode will air on Wednesday, October 30th at 9PM ET/PT, followed by the official series premiere on November 27th at 9PM ET/PT.

Each episode of Expedition Files tackles a different true story that defies easy explanation. The preview episode alone covers a wide range of topics, from modern-day spy intrigue to decades-old alien abduction claims. Gates will be examining “Havana Syndrome,” the alleged alien abduction of Travis Walton, and the Lindbergh baby kidnapping. That’s quite a mix.

The Havana Syndrome segment apparently includes never-before-seen information about the attacks, which certainly sounds intriguing. Whether that information is actually credible or just more fuel for conspiracy theories remains to be seen. The Travis Walton story, a staple of UFO lore, will be revisited with new evidence that supposedly supports Walton’s claims. Finally, the Lindbergh kidnapping segment will present a new theory about the identity of the perpetrator, which could either be a genuine breakthrough or a sensationalized rehash of old theories.

Later episodes of Expedition Files will tackle other well-worn mysteries, including the Dyatlov Pass incident, the curse of King Tut’s tomb, and the identity of Jack the Ripper. These are subjects that have been endlessly dissected and debated, so it will be interesting to see if Gates and his team can bring anything new to the table. One thing is for sure: the show won’t lack for intriguing subject matter, even if definitive answers remain elusive.

Expedition Files is produced for Discovery Channel by Ping Pong Productions.
