The Sky Crime documentary series Killer in My Village returns with a new episode focusing on the tragic case of Joy Boulton, who was found dead in her home. The episode uncovers a tale of love, jealousy, and revenge, revealing the shocking truth behind Boulton’s death.
When Sara McKenzie murdered Joy Boulton it was a brutal attack driven by jealousy. Unable to accept the rejection of a romantic interest who had moved on with Boulton, McKenzie committed a premeditated murder. On May 11, she arrived at Boulton’s residence in Surrey, armed with a deadly intent. During the attack, McKenzie used a heavy object to inflict severe head injuries on Boulton, ultimately leading to her death.
Evidence played a crucial role in the case, including DNA found under Boulton’s fingernails, which indicated a desperate struggle and provided crucial clues about the attacker. This, along with other key pieces of evidence, contributed to McKenzie’s conviction in a five-week trial. The court found her guilty of murder and interfering with the justice process, resulting in a significant prison sentence of 25 years and 163 days.
