The summer 2024 launch of Love Island has attracted the highest ratings in two years, with 2.2 million viewers tuning in across multiple devices. This figure marks a significant increase from the previous summer series, which drew in 1.3 million viewers.

The episode, which aired on Monday, saw Maya Jama welcome a new batch of Islanders to the villa. The series has introduced some twists, including a surprise celebrity bombshell, Joey Essex, and a unique coupling-up twist.

Despite technical issues with ITVX, which prevented some viewers from streaming the episode, the launch show still managed to attract a large audience.
